Is it normal i punished my cat this way?

I have a little black cat named Babbs, I love her to death but lately she's been doing things to bother me. I tried punishing her by putting her in her kennel for an hour but she always seems to escape.

One day she ate some celery and then ran to my room and took a big nasty crap on my newly washed sheets. It smelled so horrid I nearly vomited. It was at that moment I knew I had to do something to get back at her. For that whole day I ate NOTHING but Fiber One bars, and at the end of the day I took a gigantic dump in her litter box and left it there. She walked over to the box, looked at it and meowed questionably. I honestly felt good that I got back at her by doing this because she has done too much lately.

My parents thought that Babbs was the one that took the dump, so they took her to the vet.
So my question is: Is it normal that I punished my cat like this for ruining my sheets? I know she's a cat and didn't know any better, but is there another way I should have reacted?.

    What is wrong with you? No no no. I honestly think this was NOT okay. She is a cat! Sometimes this little creatures don't think. In a way, sometimes they are like babies. They don't think or may not know what's right and what's not. Or who knows maybe she got tummy sick and she couldn't hold it so she just went to the bathroom there. So like I said. They don't really make a sense of things that's why they are ANIMALS. I'm sure you do think, don't you? So why didn't you think of a reason why she would do that instead of just doing that to her. You said you love her yet you do that. Sorry but that's gross.

    Babbs sounds like a bunny name. Why was your cat eating celery? How did it get a hold of it? I have owned cats myself but I never have celery in the house since I hate celery. This story just made me laugh. Both at the fact the celery made your cat sick so you took a dump in its box.

    That's why they are called animals, because they have no intelligence. You should not however behave like your cat. I doubt that your cat understood what you did. You just satisfied your own ego and that's all.

    I definitely think it's normal to punish your cat this way, they are very passive aggressive creatures and they will actually better understand this type of punishment than any other. When my cat wouldn't stop sneezing in my face I just started spitting on it for doing so and it worked.

          I laughed for five solid minutes at this comment.

          But on a serious note: I realize I overreacted /: I should have tried to find out what was up with Babbs.

          The celery wasn't cleaned properly, that's why Babbs took a runny poo ): but she's okay now. So its a good thing she went to the vet, she could have gotten really sick if she didn't.
