Is it normal i smell my ex girlfriends

You know how a person has a particular smell to them? Whether it be their perfume, shampoo, hand lotion or just a natural scent? Well I've been smelling certain scents that I strongly associate with my ex girlfriends, particularly my "high school sweetheart", all over the place.

It's really not that big of a deal; while I do miss her I understand it's not her that I miss it's how she made me feel. I have no regrets over the ending of our relationship, but when I smell her I'll admit it depresses me a bit. It's been over a year and a half since we last spoke....

So, am I going insane?

    Yeah, I know what you mean. I have a hoodie that smelled of my ex-girlfriend for about six months after we split up. There were times when I arranged to meet her in a pub and I knew she was there even before I saw her.

    Like you, if I smelled her now, I'd probably remember the good times, because there were lots of good times. But there'll be good times with someone else in the future. For both of us.

    I like how my wife smells and when she is away i smell her clothes.

    i have some clothes of my ex gf still in my room she forgot. i used to smell them (not in a creepy way) just to get her perfume scent which i really missed.

    Ya I get this too actually. Though it's a rare occurance I do get the occasional whiff of an ex every now and again. An unusual phenomena I must say!

    Same. I dated a guy who wore a certain brand of deodorant and it had a distinctive smell because he worked out a lot so his deodorant always smelled of it's scent and whenever I smell it my mind automatically goes to him.
