Is it normal i still cry for him

My Yorkshire terrier died over a year ago. He was only four and was attacked by a large dog in the middle of playing fetch with me. I fought for his life by sticking my hands in the dogs mouth but sadly he died in that fight. I cry at least 6 times in a week about him still. People say that time heals but that has not happened for me yet. Is it normal that i still cry about him now, even though so many days have gone by?

  • Firstly, i am so so sorry for your loss. Secondly, i don't know if its considered normal by the standards of society, but i know that a lot of people go through the same thing. my dog died last march due to bowel problems caused by old age he had to be put to sleep (my parents decision) and i still cry for him. time hasnt healed the wounds, only made them worse, knowing i'll never see him again, because your dog was not just a dog it as a beloved member of your family and you are acting how anyone who had lost a close family member would act, alot of people who have never had a dog dont understand that. i also think the tragic way in wich your dog died may add to ho you feel. what keeps me going is knowing (well, hoping and forcing myself to believe) my dog is in a better place, and yours is too. just try and imagine your dog in the best place possible and you'll start to feel better, i hope.
however you may want to see a doctor as you may be suffering from depression due to this <3

  • Aw :( but be happy though, he's in a much happier place now with no mean bigger dogs. You know what they say... All dogs go to heaven ;)
