Is it normal i think being a grammar nazis is stupid?

No one is perfect. People do make mistakes. It is hard trying to be perfect 24/7. Missing the symbol in cant does not mean the world is coming to an end. People like this have a stick up their asses and think laughing at everyone makes them look better. It helps no one and making everyone flinch at the tiniest imperfection is not productive.

  • Have you noticed there's a difference between the various mistakes that are made?

Some are just random screw ups that happen when we're tired or excited (or drunk/stoned) and, then, there are the mistakes which come from laziness or ignorance. I think most of those grammar-Nazis go for the ones made in laziness and ignorance. But, there are probably a few dinks out their who take it to the extreme and chastise any old mistake. But, they're dinks, so who cares what their opinions are?

Try your best to use a social level of good grammar and use the speller checker program to weed out most of your spelling errors. But don't stress about it. :)
Some people here are typing their shit in on their phones or gaming devices; they make a lot of mistakes but it's noticeable that's why they're making them.

If you don't practice good grammar you will eventually loose it.

Everyone makes the occasional grammatical error, but it is IRRITATING when people post questions/comments with so many grammatical errors, it is difficult to understand what they're trying to say. These people should be hounded by Grammar Nazis because they need to know their posts are unacceptable.

  • I don't get why people care so much either. I notice I have been spelling much better with the spell checker on here but otherwise I do not go out of my way to check every word I'm unsure of.
What matters most is that the point was made and a few misspelled words are not going to make a real difference.

Being dyslexic I have been harassed for my spelling and grammar my whole life and it is irritating.

Das finde ich verständlich. Nazis kann ich auch nicht leiden. Besonders verdächtig finde ich es, wie geübt diese so genannten Grammatik-Nazis in der Sprache der Alliierten sind. Alles Heuchler, wenn du mich fragst.

No hack. You can upload your own picture if you go to "Settings".

            The rest is photoshop.

Chickens "lay," people "lie." It's "LYING on the floor," not "LAYING on the floor!" Sheesh!

Leider muss ich Sie enttäuschen, da ich Ihrer Bitte nicht nachkommen kann. Vielleicht werden wir uns ja auf eine weniger drastische Lösung einigen können.

It's an attempt to compensate for an obviously failing education system.

    Seriously.

People get annoyed for their own sake, but that annoyance is borne out of a general repulsion for some sections of the human population. I mean, it's an insult to have to identify yourself with someone who can't even use proper punctuation and grammar, right? And at the end of the day, we all have identify with each other because we are all human. Grammar Nazis attempt to eradicate the world of linguistic stupidity because it signifies a broader human failing - that of class distinction and poverty. How many of these kids who use poor grammar and spelling make these same mistakes in essays and tests? A fair few, I would bet.

    It's a fascinating phenomenon really.

Also, it's awful fun for some people to publicly humiliate others online (that's why I'm probably going to get flamed for this post), and humiliation is often the best form of rehabilitation.

People can educate themselves however. Libraries are free.

I do suspect you are correct however.

Those exercising their exceeding ignorance of the English language annoy me because I permit it. They are the hallmark of our failing society, one which values "lulz" over intelligence.

Survival of the dumbest? They certainly are outbreeding the intelligent.
