My house is on an Indian burial ground, and sometimes my cat won't come in the house when I open the door for it. If he walks in, his eyes will get all wide and he will start looking around like he senses something, but I won't see anything. More than one person in my neighborhood has seen a ghost.
I'm not the one to make an assumption that ghost doesn't exist. I believe there are other mysterious beings that walked on Earth just like us. Anything is possible. That's what makes this world interesting as it lingers in mystery.
Animals have many other senses than humans do so I wouldn't be surprised.
Animals and even children have been known to see things that arent there and in the child's case they sometimes even describe it as someone like a dead relative without any knowledge of them.
Weeell if we're speaking on the belief that "ghosts" are real, as long as your definition of ghosts is broad, yes.
So in places where weird phenomena happen, that is said to be haunted by a ghost and it can't be explained and such, animals aren't unknown to be able to sense things.
Know why eveyrone panics when the dog gets attacked in any ghost movie? Because that's based off of what happens in real life, how dogs can sense these...paranormal beings much better than humans, and generally alert the owners either by barking at spots or avoiding areas where -something- exists there.
Dogs are a common and iconic example, but this is known to happen with cats too (and other animals), and there's a lot of unexplained stuff where cats have been attacked and chased by "ghosts" and where the cats act weirdly too.
tl;dr yes it probably can sense ghosts.
