Is it normal i want to start sleeping on a sofa bed ...

hi all.

i currently have a double bed with a frame/headboard but i've been thinking about doing some de-cluttering in my room such as selling some items off to the facebook marketplace. i hate that i can only move my bed from one side to the other as there's not enough space in my room since there is also a two-seater couch in my room but i'm thinking about selling that.

I want to sell my bed and then buy a sofa couch and just use that as a bed or even just a 3 seater couch. what i want to know if this is a good idea and should i do it? i do have other options such as simply just buying a single bed which is fine.

The cheap ones tend not to be comfortable, and often develop mechanical problems in 5 years (give or take). More expensive ones can be very comfortable and will last many decades.

Be careful shopping and get one of the good ones. Perhaps an older high quailty used one.

In college I was the resident manager and did maintenance for 76 units in Madison Wi.

A 24 unit building had sofa sleepers for beds. They had been built in the 1960's (weighed about 3X the modern ones and had really solid frames).

The landlord reupholstered them one year with new mattresses as well (really nice and durable fabric and great cushions as well). He said that it was the same cost as new cheap ones that didn't last, and the local upholstery shop loved having to do 26 of them over the summer (I think it was 1 per week if I recall correctly, with 2 spares in the storeroom that he started with: we also had a full set of spare appliances in that store room).

If you’re an easy sleeper then go for it. But they aren’t very comfortable. If you require comfort for sleep then try a Murphy bed.
