Is it normal i wish facebook never existed?

So I'm starting to believe that facebook is becoming a main source of ruining people. Not only has it seem to become just a popularity contest, but I've also noticed that it has destroyed friendships and relationships. For example I've read stories on this site where people have mentioned they went onto someone else's facebook and saw something they didn't like, causing a huge fight about it and thus damaging either a friendship or relationship.

As a result I have deleted my account, and I'm now a firm believer that we were much better off before facebook and all these other networking sites were created. Anybody else agree?

It only destroys the weak minded. As for relationships..it's no excuse. Without Facebook they would have just found another way to fuck up.

  • I really wish it never existed. Facebook has changed modern society in SO many negative ways. The lives of students my age revolves around facebook. It sickens me...

I want facebook to be unplugged, but zuckerman is SUCH a GREEDY j** that he will never stop facebook. It makes too much money.

I agree, I hate Facebook, seems to be something evil about that company that I can't quite put my finger on.

To be honest, I don't agree 100%. Even before FB existed, friendships and relationships end for some reason or another. I just use it to connect with people and whatnot. I don't like trolls, or people who add everybody just to get their friend count up.

People expose their personality readily on Facebook and expect other people not to act on it. Umm, people will always kind of act on it. I expose myself on IIN because none of you actually know me. If you did, I'd keep schtum.

Because you don't, I'm entirely honest here and I like that I can be. But no-one should kid themselves that the amount of exposure they allow doesn't somehow weaken themselves. I'm open, but there's a limit.

Can't be doing with Facebook. Had a look around the site once and it was very unappealing. I am in my 40s, just for background info.

I guess it's harder for the youngsters, they have grown up with this stuff and feel they HAVE to be on it. At my age, I don't feel that peer pressure. I just think - "will this benefit my life and how?" with FB the answer has always been a resounding NO.

I don't think I'm missing anything. I also think it will die a death in time. Just wait.

I think it cool that people from
older generations can use fb to reconnect with people from their past. My grandmother recently found ppl on fb that she went to school with 50 years ago. That's kind of awesome IMO.

Face book hasn't ruined anything in my life. Then again me and my friends keep all the drama off line.

I kind of preferred life before myspace and facebook.

But I must say, I do enjoy being able to keep up with my friends who live in different parts of the United States. If I'm curious about what a certain friend is up to, I can just look through her photos and status updates.

  • People meet other people on facebook. You know how much easier it is to cheat on someone thanks to it? Viva las Internet! Another thing, most websites that become very popular, turns out to be sell outs; Youtube, facebook, you get the idea.

Unfortunately, he isn't going to sell out anytime soon, he has said his goal is to be the first trillion dollar company... So, I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm on Facebook but you know when I meet people who aren't on Facebook from time to time, and they say I don't have time for that shit" to sit on the computer posting pics to impress others of most I will never meet - that is too me impressive, and makes me think there are still a few people who get it.

If you're so fickle as to let Facebook destroy your friendship , then you didn't like them in the first place

    • yes and i hate that because if you write something on one other website it sends it to your fb account even if you click don't attach files you know what i mean, it sends it anyways like you need a backup of what you write Facebook is ass-backwards for me just like linux and mac's and apples software's are for me to use. that is not fun its like a damn virus with it being everywhere.

It's not Facebook that causes problems, Facebook is innocent. It's the cunts on there and how they use it.

Never had one, but i was kinda big on myspace back when it was still fairly populer. I lost internet connetions, and when i finally got it back, myspace was dead and everybody is now on facebook, which at this point i could care less, cuz i lost the interest in the whole thing, it just seems pointless to me.

I wish you had to live a certain distance from one another to use it.
People who use it for schoolmates and friends is silly, call them. Facebook your family in foreign countries.

Facebook sucks it's just a way to stalk people like unless your really old and are looking for oldfriends it's so pointless. It ruins friends and relationships. That's why me and my boyfriend don't have one. I deactivated mine a couples months ago.

Facebook doesn't ruin relationships, the stuff people post on there does. Even if it didn't exist, people would still mess up relationships in other ways like they always have. You might not be able to go on someone's page and see the mean things they wrote about you, but you can always hear those things from friends and neighbors. If you had any relationships ruined by Facebook then the relationship was crappy in the first place.
