    Yeah I do that all the time. I'd only be worried if he ever causes you any problems (distracts from real life responsibilities, says things that hurt you, tries to convince you to do unsavory things, etc.)

      Using your imagination. Especially if the poster talks to this fake person a lot, it would be really easy to come up with responses from him immediately. I know I have imaginary friends still (not sure of that's what the poster's talking about) and it's become sort of second nature to come up for responses for them. It's almost a reflex in a sense.

    Dating sites are notorious for using chat bots. You never get a date, but you get lots of computer generated jabber.

      I used to work a job at an online operator company for sex dating sites pretending to be girls on the website. Our job was to string men on as long as possible using the profiles and information at our disposal. We had to log every single event happening.

        Ah ha. Catfishing for money. Logging every single event enables the computers to tell you what is most effective. Cyber whoring is a relatively new concept.

          Essentially yes. I stopped when I encountered a 76 year old man whos been talking to this profile for 3 years. He was madly in love. I couldn't scam this man.

          Called his number and explained everything.
