Is it normal if i keep on touching things twice?

I usually touch things twice. Suppose I touch the cap of a water bottle for around 10 seconds with my left hand I would have to touch it again with my right hand for 10 seconds again. And supposed I kick someone by mistake with my right foot I will have to do it to with my left and well if I don't I'm told that I will have to face consequences. I hate this. Is this normal? what should I do?

I'm the same way. if i flex one muscle, I have to flex the opposite one. when i'm typing, i change which fingers hit the keys until it feels about equal. hell, even when I get hit it the balls and it only gets one of them, i kinda squeeze the other until the pain is even.

I only do a few things twice usually. Like writing a word. I write over that same word agan. But i dont do it to everything. I do agree with thr that it sounds like OCD and theres ways to get rid of it. Just tell yourself that you dont have to do it. It sounds easy for us but for you it may sound extreamly difficult. Just work at training yourself not to do those things. You'll be fine :)

What do you mean, you're told that you will have to face consequences? Anyway, it sounds like ocd, and one can get help for that.

Thanks a lot , but I haven't told anyone about it. Should I tell others? I don't like to be an attention catcher.

You shouldn̈́'t be afraid of telling people, and you shouldn't portray it as being an attention catcher. You didn't choose this.

If it is really bad, you should see a doctor. I don't know much about it, but cognitive behavioral therapy and medications (SSRIs) are used to treat ocd.

If you don't want to see a doctor about it, there are books on ocd.
It could also be that a diet change could help. Having a healthy gut seems important, and I have read of milk proteins and gluten as possible culprits, so avoiding dairy and bread may be worth a try.

If it a compulsion, something you feel you need to do, even though you think you do not really need to do it, then it sounds like ocd.

You know more about your situation than I do, so maybe it would help if you find something to read about ocd and symptoms, starting, e.g., with websites, to see how much your situation seems like you have ocd.

it's OCD. i've had it for years. i do stuff to avoid something bad happening to me. it's not normal, but you aren't alone. tapping things twice is a "ritual". you're obsessive with these thoughts and compulsive with the rituals.
