I don't drive because medically I can't never drove before but people think I'm stupid because I don't know street names. I know the names of the streets within a 4-5 mile radius from where I live but beyond that I have no idea. I normally close my eyes when in a car, train or bus until I've arrived because of my medical issues then just get off.
So is it normal I don't know street names beyond 4-5 miles away?
Normal and I drive professionally. I go where the gps tells me to. Or I remember where to go at a place.
Only reason you would need to know the streets is if you already live there and you were telling someone else directions. Or I suppose you could go off of landmarks.
People always be like do you know where cnf st k has f is and in like no, they be like oh its bktjgfj and I'm like or or or just give me the address and I can. GPS it
I want to say normal, but I don't really know. I didn't know any street names until I started driving, and I still barely know most of them now. However, I've seen a ton of confused faces (back in high school, especially) when I told people I didn't know the location of a specific street.
Maybe knowing street names is more common in area where people walk a lot.
Normal, I don’t have a car and don’t know many street names either. I know the trains around here like the back of my hand though.
I’ve actually noticed how my wealthier friends drive on the motorways with no sat nav like it’s nothing but get confused whenever we take trains in the city. Several have confessed they don’t know how to read the tube maps. We all develop our own life skills depending on our needs.
I say normal. If you don't drive you really don't need to know the street names except for your destinations.
