Is it normal mandatory password strengths annoy the shit outta me?

Lately I noticed more and more websites are requiring much more complicated mandatory password strengths and I HATE it! It should be up to me, man! Don't tell me how many letters, how many symbols and how many need to be capatalized! I can't remember these passwords and every time I want to log in to something I have to guess, guess again, get locked out then have to retrieve my password. I know, I could write it down but isn't that more risky than having a weak password? Kind of defeats the purpose. Then some websites make you create a new password every so often and that is just BULLSHIT!!

Does this annoy you too?

    • The worst was when I caught shit for having suspected profanity included in my password. The suspected profanity was 'fart'. What the fuck difference does it make if my password is profane, and how is FART profane??

Yeah, I hate those too. I don't need some idiot telling me if my password is safe or not. Let me be the judge of that. And even if someone hacks my facebook or my gmail. I don't give a pig's arse about that. I'll make new ones :D

I agree with this. The point of the password is to make sure you do not forget it. Plus when you add things like numbers and capitols it sometimes make it harder for computer to read. So more chance for you messing up and being locked out of your account. I also agree with the somebody to know that the letter limit is very irritating.

    PREEEEACH!
I literally HATE that too! Like, it's gone to the point where I have to write down in this secret journal all my passwords for all my accounts just because so many different websites ask for specific things. Like, ugh. No.

If they made the strength standard among all web sites, this wouldn't be nearly as bad.

I FUCKING can't stand websites like that!!!! The only website that I remember signing up to like that is deviantart. Holy shit! My password is so fucking long that its one of the many reasons that puts me off from frequently coming on that site. The original account I made on there had a moderately long password that I, of course, ended up forgetting. When the time came that I was so fed up with deviantart, I decided to delete my account. Guess what? I couldn't get in so I had to spend almost an hour trying to create a new and "extremely strong" password just so I could delete that profile!!!

I hate it if it's a website where the account doesn't matter much as far as hackers are concerned but if it's important such as bank, credit card related, identity related such as fb then know that any password that's a dictionary word is a giveaway and even short random combinations aren't very secure. Also a study revealed that there still are lots of people using lame passwords such as 1234, password, secret or admin.

It scares me that Facebook is now considered one of the important accounts. D:

The worst is when I actually put some thought into picking a good password, only to have it rejected by their arbitrary rules. Having run out of patience at that point I usually type in something like "P@ssw0rd" instead.

It does. On the brighter side, it annoys me less than your spelling.
