Is it normal my belly button is bleeding

So umm this may be kinda weird...but I'm here for help so here goes: I was cleaning my belly button with a q-tip, the first time I'm like 2yrs. (yea it's gross I know...but I keep all my other holes clean) I stuck the q-tip in and spun it around there was blood, hair and other funky stuff on it...then I did it again and more blood...so I'm really freaked out by this and I would appreciate any help.

Yeah, I know. It may be funny that someone has a problem, but maybe someone has a problem and we should help them?

First off, don't worry. It's nearly always just a fungal infection. It's going to itch a bit but try not to scratch it. More often than not, it'll clear up of its own accord but there's no harm in getting antibiotics from your doctor just to make sure.

The only other thing it could be is a urachal cyst but they're really rare so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Um, maybe you should look into getting a belly button transplant.

Ok so first off...Eww!!! And if it's been 2 yrs since u cleaned it and all that nasty stuff came out of it, it was probably moist which will cause the skin to break down and become infected. Clean it out with hydrogen peroxide and keep it dry till it heals. Maybe even put some antibiotic ointment on it. Best of luck! <gag>

I've cleaned my innie with a q-tip before and there has never been blood present. It may have felt weird and uncomfortable, but bleeding was never a part of the experience. It's not normal.

If the bleeding won't stop you should see a doctor.
But if the bleeding has stopped... I think maybe your skin is just sensitive in there. It's been two years, layers of gross crap like dust, dead skin, sweat, etc. have been building up inside your belly button and made your skin feel sore and you just didn't notice until now.
Clean it regularly with water and soap and don't use a q-tip, you could damage the skin even more.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I was pissed off at something else and I took it out on you. Not good. I smirked too when I first read that line.
