Is it normal my cat can tap complex rhythms with his tail!

I noticed this a couple of years ago while my cat and I were listening to some Horace Silver, although it seems his ability has been more sophisticated over the years. This evening, for example, I observed him for about 30 minutes, during which time he only tapped exactly on beats 1, 2 and 3; 1,3 and 4, occasional eighth notes, or quarter note triplets. I have no desire to exploit him, but I wonder what I can do to encourage his talents further? I don't think he would be keen on having something tied to his tail :0 I have noticed he does not like heavy metal at all, and he responds most energetically to instrumental jazz of the 50's and 60's.

    @Mel: actually I am quite busy, but think my cat's "talent" is worth investigation. I researched this phenomenon last night and found that many neurological studies have been conducted which link a sense of rhythm to the earliest methods of human communication, and the feeling is that other mammals, to some typically less-sophisticated degree, are born with this sense. I'll post links if anyone is interested.
