Is it normal my cat didn't recognize me when i came home drunk?

Usually she comes running towards me as soon as she sees (or hears) me approach the house. This time she ran under a hole in the fence when she saw me. When I called her name she came straight back to greet me the usual way, but I was really puzzled (and even a little shocked) by her initial reaction. Does she identify me by the way I walk? I was probably a little unsteady on my feet. Has this happened to anyone else? IIN?

my old roommie's cat used to stare at me and judge me whenever I was wasted. his eyes would say "you're going to hell" and one time his voice even said it. and now he's dead and I live in a different house but I still see him! I think he's returned to lead my soul to the Underworld. Cats freak me the eff out!

So that wasn't a joke you were making about the cats dragging people to the underworld the other day; you were serious. Lol about the cat "judging" you. Animals can be pretty serious sometimes.

Also, you are red now instead of brown. I just had to say something...

that cat sure was unique. the first cat i ever lived with and i've never been a cat lover. but towards the end, we grew to like each other (aside from the whole Hell thing.)

yeah i had to switch it up!

Probably the alcohol masked her master's true odor.

Maybe the fact you smelled strongly of beer and whiskey. So it did not recognize your smell. Alcohol is strong you know. That or maybe they just are antisocial and run like hell when door opens.

My cats are nicer to me when I'm drunk, which is pretty much every day, thank the Crucified Christ. On those rare occasions I'm sober they hiss at me, urinate on my bed linens, and bite my feet.

They are horrible. I wish they'd go away or die, but they never do.

They're looking at me right now...

Yo, maybe she DID recognize you from the first time but you were TOO WASTED to tell... Or maybe you were STREAKING back home so she got scared and ran away! Booze can play some nasty tricks on you, brother!!!
