Is it normal my cat wants to jump up onto my lap while i'm working?

My cat sometimes decides to jump up onto my lap and knead me. It's irritating, but I let him do it. He sometimes will actually lick the wood on my desk, and if I have my headset off, he will attempt to lick inside my ear. He also jumps onto my desk and crawls behind the space between the wall and my computer. At night, he will come into my room and meow at me to put him up in the bed. Is this normal?

    Irritating? It sounds adorable. I think that your cat is trying to get your attention. I don't know how much time you spend on the computer but, I think you should take some breaks for bonding/playtime. :3

    This is a very feline behavior, most cats will sit on your computer/sit on your book or paper while youre trying to read. They WILL NOT be ignored. lol

    My cat will jump on my lap then onto my desk and try to walk across my keyboard. I'm convinced he's trying to communicate with humanity. Or maybe it's just feeding time again...
