Is it normal my dog wants to attack kids?

I got my dog when she was about two from a college guy that had her since she was a puppy and was moving to where dogs were not allowed. Whenever a child (about less than 10 years old) approaches her she acts very viscous (i.e. snarls, barks, lunges towards them). She's a medium sized dog (Australian Shepherd) and is cute so kids like to approach her but I have to yell at them to stay away. I don't know how to stop this behavior..it's been three years now and nothing has changed. Please Help!

    yeah my dog is the same, he is just weird around kids. probably because they tormented him at the old place we lived at. kids suck anyways lol

    You say you just "walk her around the neighborhood," but what if that monster gets loose (and dogs do get loose by running out the door, crawling under the fence, jerking the leash out of your hand, etc.) and attacks a kid? You better do what others have said and put that bitch down NOW!!!!

    Eh...I just mainly posted it to get advice...I realize that it's not good, however, we're able to control her in public. We only just walk her around the neighborhood or whatever and there's no way I'm getting rid of her. I used to think it was kinda funny actually because I hate kids too but it is a danger.

    Get pregnant (or get someone pregnant.) Have a kid, bring the infant into your household to live with you and Dog. Allow Dog to get used to being around Baby. Dog will bond with Baby immediately. As Baby grows into Toddler and Kid, their bond will remain strong and then Dog will like kids.

      Ha actually, my brother just had a kid and he's about 8 months now. My dog is quite protective of him..anytime he cries she rushes to his side and lets him touch her and everything but my whole family is still very cautious. It will be interesting to see what happens as he gets older.

    Could be a challenge thing, she's easy to accept adults as they're larger, but kids are a strange height for her.
    As soon as you see a kid and feel her begin to react, pull up til she sits(or have her lie down) and don't let her move til you say to. She needs to learn that kids aren't a threat, nor something to lunge at. Have her 'act small' til she understands.

      I have watched it....I just can't seem to get his shhhh just right. haha. I don't know if a kid hit her when she was little or what. it's ridiculous

    You better get rid of that POS now before she attacks some kid and you (or your parents) end up on court. And when the lawyer on the other side points out that you knew of her propensity to attack children and failed to muzzle her, you (or your parents) will be bankrupt.

    Get that fucking bitch put down before it kills someones kid for fuck sakes don't waste time asking bullshit questions do it before this disastrous dangerous dog manages to leave your sight and kills I'm surprised no one has called Animal Control on that vile thing
