Is it normal my friend is losing weight before having ses with her bf?

She's overweight but not obese probably like 20 pounds overweight. Her boyfriend is extremely underweight, around 5'10 120 pounds and because of that she hasn't had ses with him yet and is now dieting just to lose weight for ses.

Is it normal?

    She probably feels self conscious about how she looks. Though if he's dating her chances are he's fine with that extra 20 pounds she has.
