Is it normal my laptop speaks to me?

My laptop has Ubuntu 12.04LTS for its operating system and it's been great so far. Up until recently, things have been running smoothly.

But when I must logout of my account and keep my headphones on, at the landing screen for logging into other accounts, I hear voices. It sounds like a murmuring, male robot. I don't know what he says, but I don't like how it sounds.

Its the ghost of Steve jobs. Don't worry, he's just telling you to buy a new iPhone.

Only if it's made by Apple.

My computer talks too. We often have heart to heart conversations during startup.

I really don't know what that is. Just ask somebody or something

Try recording it. There's recording software that you can either download or buy.

Any chance you could be picking up radio signals?
This is gunna sound so weird, but when I was about 5, I got a pair of Barbie telephones that you use in different rooms to speak to another person (anyone remember those things?), and they used to pick up the police walkie-talkie signals. It freaked the hell out of me and my sister!

Anyway, it could be a similar thing.

This probably isn't it but I know with my old laptop I would begin to plug in my headphones and I would start hearing these voice. Really weird but it's only when I plugged the headphones halfway and hold it. Apparently it would pick up some radio stations. lol

So creepy! Is there any way to record it to get a better listen?
