Is it normal normal to stop reading the bible after gen 17
Sometimes when I am in a crisis, or I am very curious, I try to read the Bible. Try, being the operative word, because I always stop at Gen:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
I stop because basicly it's a metaphor. To read the Bible and understand the knowledge of good and bad would be just like Adam eating the fruit of it. There are many, many people who go to church regularly, have read the Bible at least once, and commit sins. Wouldn't that be worse?
Wouldn't it be better to be a good person naturally than forcing yourself to abide by rules just so you can go to Heaven? I know I have committed a lot of sins, knowledgeably and un-knowledgeably, but does anyone else think like this, or have trouble reading the rest of the Bible?
