Is it normal not to bathe your cats

I have always owned cats and especially rescues. If they show an affinity for indoors that's where they remain only. Is it normal not to regularly bathe you indoor only cats?

There is only like one or two breeds of cats that actually need a bath. Like the hairless breed and some other one that actually likes water. Otherwise thought, their rough tongue is enough to keep themselves clean.

My EX-wife had me bathe her cat, the try putting it in a kittycarrier! I f-ing had to get stitches! The cat took a dirt nap a couple of days later. And I didn't feel guilty AT ALL when she was out calling 'TABBIE!' So, in my humble opinion-leave the cats alone to bathe themselves.

yeah cat's epecially indoor one's are able to keep them selves clean enough. By grooming there is no need to bother giving them a bath.

  • Most cats hate water on them and if you try giving them a bath, there's a big chance you'll lose your face. If they wouldn't have claws, it would be a different story..

Why would you want to bathe your cat? The only time you should do that is if it becomes too sick to clean itself.

if you're going to bathe a cat, you have to get them used to it from the time they're a kitten. if you start bathing them when they're older, they won't like it. i've always had cats and we never bathed them. our cats are indoor-outdoor, but they never get super dirty so they don't really need bathed.

Most cats hate water, but we've had a few cats in our family that loved it, or were fascinated by it. My cat, for instance, loves watching the toilet flush. Others that we've had actually played in the water, or would hop up on the sink and drink it directly from the faucet. But cats are clean animals for the most part, and don't really need to be bathed by humans.

My cat goes outside all the time and we dont bathe him. Cats give themselves baths... unless your cat comes home really smelly or covered in dirt (which is unusual), its normal to not bathe them.

All my 4 cats are indoors (I live in the desert and there are tons of hungry Cyotes) and I don't give and have never given them a bath. Cats are cranky animals and don't like water with an exception for a few breeds. Cats give themselves baths so unless your cat gets extremly dirty where they need a bath don't do it. If it gets to the point where they need a bath take it to the bath and the vets will do it for you.

Not a good idea unless it is absolutely necessary. For example; they are covered in something noxious, and even then, it's best to let the professionals (groomers) handle the situation. It's very traumatic for cats to be bathed, unless they have been bathed regularly since they were a kitten.

FYI: If a cat ever bites you, you should go directly to the ER because there's a lot of bacteria in their saliva that can give you a very serious infection and maybe blood poisoning.

My husband and I tried only once. Never again. The cat latched on to my husbands hand, between thumb and index finger and wouldn't let go. He tried shaking her off, pulling the jaws apart. She eventually let go and my husbands hand was a mess.

i don't think u need to bathe cats at all since they do a fine job of cleaning themselves... the only time my cat got a bath was when he had fleas... he was traumatized by that experience... it was like 10 years ago and he still scared around sinks
