Is it normal not to feel bad for paterno?

I can't help but be amazed that people can ignore the fact that he stood by and did virtually nothing. He wasn't a doctor or someone who risked his life to save others, he was a football coach. He also witnessed sexual abuse of a young boy and cared more about preserving the "PENN STATE" name versus helping this kid out. If the guy had been locked up some kids lives would be messed up like they are now because of him. AM I the only one who can see this being a problem? ***ALSO I UNDERSTAND he didn't do anything himself I still feel he is not worthy of sympathy because of it.

      Paterno was/is a piece of shit. The only reason he should have stayed alive longer was to suffer the hell he SHOULD have received in jail...o well he will get that in hell

    In all honesty if the story never broke like it did he would still be coaching and most likely still be alive as well.

    I think he is culpable in the whole thing for ignoring what was going on in the first place, but he certainly paid a terrible price for it.

    No matter what happened 85 years of life and leaving college football as arguably the best and certainly most winningest coach is not bad at all.

        Firstly - I live in Australia, so we don't hear anything about American Football.

        Secondly - I'm generally interested about anything I don't know about.
