    Everyone believes in something, even you started your sentence by saying "I believe.."

      "I believe in nothing"....ok, what is "nothing" then? to me that denotes an absence of belief....to believe in nothing is to have no beliefs.....how would you quantify "nothingness" as a measurable belief?

        your argument is rubbish, "the burden of proof lies in the believer," "belief" is a word invented for the purpose of believers, grammatical arguments don't make good ones. To believe in nothing is simply how it is explained in english. Does not incur "belief" necessarily.

    Well, you must have a reason for this. I'm thinking you must've been hurt over and over again, or watched somebody you love get hurt over and over again.

    But if you want to live life believing in nothing, than whats life? Whats the point in living? - I'm not saying for you to go out and kill yourself now. But you don't have that many choices besides either; A. Sulking. Thinking that everyone is the same, not bothering to trust anyone. Isolating yourself from the world.... or B. Changing. And realizing that everyone gets hurt. People get hurt everyday. And that you are worth something. That this shithole, we call life does have meaning. And you better believe that you were put here for a reason. You might not find out what that reason is right away, but you'll find out sooner or later. When you feel like you can't believe in anything else, at least learn to believe in yourself.

    I don't either OP. I consider faith to be undesirable though. Faith to me is believing something without sufficient evidence to justify that belief. It seems better to me to judge everything based upon reasonable assumptions.

      then you don't know what faith means, nor do you understand atheism.

      in order for us to accept something exists, there must be evidence for it.

      for instance, physicists postulate that dark matter exists since galaxies clump into clusters which require more mass than is observable.

      as an atheist, I don't "believe in" dark matter, but I accept the possibility that it exists based on evidence only.

      there is absolutely no proof/evidence for the existence of gods, fairies, goblins, etc. So we reject that such things exist-until solid proof is presented.
