Is it normal not to have many subscribers on youtube?

I had a close friend who last year died very young. She used to love the way I read poetry so I set up a youtube channel called RelaxationCompilation dedicated to her memory. In it I read famous poems and short stories and also make meditation and ASMR videos. I've tried to promote the channel on every form of social media but I just can't get many subscribers. Is this normal? It's quite disheartening because I put a lot of effort into it. I'd really appreciate advice on what more I can do.     That is because it is just poetry, nothing too exciting unless you are a connoisseur of poetry... What I am suggesting you is reading those poems in a special way, if you want subscribers on the internet, you have to come up with new things. For example, try reading them with the poshest english accent you can do and whispering them: a massive ASMR trigger. Try putting some music on the background if you are doing dramatic "audio-theatre". In a few words my fellow, try to be a bit more creative.

    I looked at the channel and you're not getting a lot of subscribers because there's not really a large audience on YouTube for what you're doing.

    The vast majority of people on this earth have no Youtube subscribers at all.
