Is it normal objects look bigger when wearing contacts?

I have very bad vision and require glasses or contacts to get by. I wear my glasses most of the time and I noticed when I switch to contacts certain things look so much bigger. I just looked at my cats and they look 50% larger than when I was wearing glasses. Not everything looks bigger. Just some things. IIN?

OMG seriously guys....my cats look huuuuuge!! I wish you could see this!!

Side view mirrors are not contacts.

    • I had a better pair but I guess I didn't seal the jar properly and they spoiled.

Perhaps your vision is so bad that they make things look better so you could see. That or you possibly got wrong prescription.

Well, I didn't think that some things are bigger and other aren't, sounded normal.
However, I am sure there is a logical explanation for it.

I do wish I could see big kitties. I love kitties.

    • Yeah it doesn't really make sense that only some things look bigger. If I remember I'll ask next time I'm at the optometrist. It really is remarkable how much larger these certain things look. I still can't get over how huge my cats are. Or did everything else get smaller? This is really buggin me out! What's real?

The curvature of the lenses in your glasses are different from those in your contacts. Because you can't see without the glasses, your eyes probably got used to the distorted view you have through the lenses of your glasses.

    • I've experienced that in the distant past when I believe my contact prescription was a tad better than my glasses so naturally a bit less blur would make things look sharper and smaller. I can't really explain what's happening now though since it's definitely not blur that's causing things to look bigger.
