Is it normal talking to yourself when nobody's around

Ok so I tend to talk to myself when nobody is around It's usually stuff that I'm thinking but sometimes I have a whole conversation with myself about random things such as something I do or something I see I even sometimes talk to myself right before going to sleep and I got caught talking to myself before it was a bit awkward so basically Is it normal, and am I the only person who does this

i dont actually talk outloud...but sometimes i will move my mouth as if im talking outloud, because in my head im having a almost constant monelogue.

for me the monologue is me talking to a certain person that i know or like a celeb or something lol it sounds soo weird and im probably really weird for doing that but at least THEY dont talk back to me or anything like that. theyre only listening to what i have to say, which are my current thoughts.

i did research on this before and i think i read that about 4percent of people have 'fantasy worlds' in their head where they imagine they are a better version of themselves and just talk to 'charactors' they either make up or know in real life about anything really (for me its issues relevant to me, or something im pissed about and need to vent) you should think about what your saying outloud...what is it about?

i think thats basically a form of talking to yourself, and i think it is normal somewhat. i guess some poeple, like me, have boring lives or want to be heard so much that we need to compensate by doing that extra talking to ourselves. for me it makes me feel good like as if im having a convo with somebody for rreal and im letting out my emotions and getting a (false) sense that somebody is caring about what im saying

personally i cant even imagine what 'normal' people's minds are like who dont talk either aloud or silently to themselves. i actually thought this was normal for everyone until one of my friends described her thoughts as not in the form of words at all but more like a feeling...i could understand what she meant but like i said, i have a constant inner dialogue going on at the pace of a normal conversation that im conscouisly controlling and i cant imagine that turned off

I tend to talk about just random things I saw or an event that happenend earlier in the day I think about it first but then I just say it aloud like for example "So and so said they were gonna do this."How do they really expect that to work some people are really just f**king stupid." Something like that.

oh ok...so i guess what your saying outloud is basically summing up...thats probably because its something you feel strong about so you say it to yourself as if you were a seperate person because you feel its something that has to be said. like in your example someone is going to do something you think is ridiculous and youre fustrated...you would probably have said that to a friend if one was nearby.

like if i was thinking that thought, i would be basically mouthing out what i would say to that person, or what i would say to a friend who knows that person...but its the same; letting out an emotion i feel strongly (in this case fustration)

tbh, i dont know if this is normal or not lol or maybe its because i cant explain this very well without sounding like a mental patient...
and i dont want to pretend like im a pychiatrist, im just guessing here and saying how it is for me :D

lol how do you know youre talking in your sleep? consciously talking and unconsciously talking are probably 2 totally different things...it may not be normal but plenty of people do it

Sometimes, while really stressed or angered by someone/something, I will get away from others and talk to myself to calm down. It can be more soothing talking to yourself because only you can understand your own perspective and thoughts. While having conversations with yourself purposely in front of others isn't normal, getting caught talking to yourself is. I don't usually do it for a long amount of time, just a few sentences or thoughts every now and then. If it is something that bothers you, perhaps you should attain a diary or notepad to write down what you're feeling or thinking at the moment which you just want to share, even if no one is around to hear it.

I talk to myself quite frequently. I think it's normal. Cause I'm the only one who listens to me.
