Is it normal that a video game made me stop believing in religion?

I started playing the video game Spore a few years ago and it made more sense and felt more real to me than religion ever did. Obviously it's a game, but the idea as a whole explained life. Something so innocent as a game with the idea of evolution impacted me more than any church service did. Is it normal my beliefs in life were so easily swayed by a video game loosely tied to a theory?

I was going to say "No", but Spore is actually a really clever educational game that makes evolution really easy to understand. It doesn't surprise me that this game has "de-converted" someone.

Whatever faith you had before can't have been particularly strong, Spor just helped you realise it.

like others already said, your faith musn't have been that strong to begain with. Im going to say not normla because most people, if they have any religion at all, are usually firm in their beliefs.

I disagree with the people saying that it must mean your faith was weak to begin with - it was just based on something that was later proven to be false. Just remember that a lot of people manage to believe in religion and evolution. Not that you have to (I don't really), just saying that doesn't need to end it for you. Maybe this is something you need to give more thought to... Or maybe not, and you should just play more video games instead. :D

The Bible is a book, Spore is a video game. They're both forms of media, but you gotta admit Spore is the more engaging one. So no, it's not surprising at all. Besides, just because there's evolution, doesn't mean there's no God or higher power or whatever you wanna call it. Even some scientists can find room for both in their lives.

You were probably an atheist all along but never really thought about it. Spore just helped you realize it.

Well, yes, it's normal. I mean, if you just THINK. What is more likely to happen? Evolution or some guy in heaven creating everything? I think you should become an atheist. You sound smart.
