Is it normal that as a guy (20m) i like shorts that go much above my knees?

I was born in 2001, an era of quite long and baggy shorts, but...I never really felt it. If they were called "shorts," then why were they only knee-length or below the knee?

Shorts above the knee were considered "too short" growing up, but to me that was pretty much the ideal length. And not just above my knees, but several inches above my knees. Think mid-thigh. 5 inch inseam shorts.

I just like having all that airflow on my thighs, and having bronze thighs as well. Unfortunately a lot of people seem to think my short shorts style is "gay" though.

I mean indeed, lol. I hate shorts that touch my knee, so above it is. Never below. Always 5 inch inseam.

I like short shorts on boys because they look gay. Don’t see that many though.

Because they look "gay" huh...I mean I am a bisexual male, though I usually much prefer women. And the men I like do tend to be rather feminine too.

Still though. Gay doesn't have to be taken as an insult, so I won't take it as one. Though I do kind of want the ladies to think I'm (mostly) straight, lol.

It wasn't meant as an insult. Im bisexual too. It's an opinion.

Oh I didn't mean to imply you meant it as an insult. It's just that some straight guys take it really to heart when someone calls them gay, when they don't have to. Gay guys are often good looking anyway, so I don't mind. And I'm glad you're bisexual too, lol.

          Of what? Being bisexual? No.

I like my "shorts" to be either over-the-knee (is that capri?) or really very short, actually the hot pants style that men could publically wear until the late 1970s but has been frowned upon ever since. Although I've been wearing them during the summer for quite some years now and never received any negative comments...

I hate shorts that go to the knee and below the knee. Shorts that go below the knee are more like Capri pants. I never could understand guys wearing bathing suits that go below the knee, doesn't look good IMO. I like shorts that go mid thigh. People stereotype, some people judge your sexuality based on the clothes you wear. So called short shorts are considered gay by many people.

Oh yeah. In the 90's and 2000's shorts were extremely long. Not a fan. I'll always like them above my knees.

You show off those thick, sexy man legs all you want.

Oh I will, haha. I've never liked shorts that went below my knees anyway. So uncomfortable, and my thighs were so pale compared to my calves. So thigh showing it is! A lot above the knee! :D

I won’t say it’s gay but gay men do wear short shorts. I’m gay and I love seeing guys in short shorts so…

I'm bisexual, though I mostly prefer women. Still though, if gay guys think I look good in short shorts, that's still a plus, lol. I prefer women, but if guys think I'm hot, that's good.

If your shorts are below your knees you might as well be wearing long pants. All my shorts are well above my knees and if someone doesn't like it it's not my problem. Wear what you want!

I completely agree with you! Shorts below the knees never made sense to me. So uncomfortable, so unflattering. I always liked having a bit more thigh action. And yes, if someone doesn't like it, it's not our problem!

Us babybomers grew up with shorts above the knee... I'm not sure I have ever had shorts that went below my knees.

A month or two ago I saw that was listed as one of the "uncool" things about baby-boomers.

I'm not into real short shorts on men. But, above the knee is a must.

I'm only 20 years old, but I'm with you. I never liked seeing my male peers in long baggy shorts below the knee. It just never looked good in my opinion.

Hehe, you and me both sister! I never liked shorts that were knee-length or below the knee, just never. Exposed thighs was always a must for me.

I remember in the early 2000s if my shorts slipped above my knee to expose my thigh it felt like I was exposing myself or something

That's how it felt for me back in middle school, lol. For elementary school I don't think I noticed or cared, but in middle school I was the only one in shorts slightly above the knee, while everyone else had them slightly below the knee...I felt kind of naked in comparison, though I did think above the knee still looked better.
