Is it normal that craneflies terrify me?

I don't mind spiders, I adore snakes, worms are chill and even cockroaches get a pass. But daddy-long-legs (excuse the UK-ism)/Craneflies scare the hell out of me. I seriously cannot stand to be in the same room as one without freaking. Is it normal or am I a wuss?

Lots of people don't like them because they look like flying spiders and bumble around in an unpredictable way.

As I'm sure you know, they're completely harmless. As with many insect species, the only thing the flying form does is mate and lay eggs. Their lifespan is so short that they don't eat anything, and if they interact with people it's by accident or because they've been attracted to light. The larval form is vegetarian, and food for many vertebrate species.

    • "Crane fly is a common name referring to any member of the insect family Tipulidae, of the order Diptera, true flies in the superfamily Tipuloidea" Basically think spiders and dragonflies got freaky and this was their lovechild.
