Is it normal that delirium makes me ultra creative?

Whenever I'm sleep deprived, my creative mind goes crazy. Its like literally day dreaming, the imagination takes over and as an artist so many ideas rush into my head, its a truly rewarding experience, despite feeling like I could pass out any second. When I'm well slept I'm far too balanced. Can anyone relate to this?

Yes, mon OP. I seem to come up with the best ideas when I'm exhausted or in delirium.

Everyone's different. Some people are most creative right when they wake up, and some people when they logically should go to sleep. I know a lot of professional artists who can't get any work done if they sleep more than six hours the night before.

Your brain has its own rules. ;) Just make sure you take care of it and compensate on the sleep once in a while if you're going to abuse the creative drive.

  • People in the "manic" stage of bi-polar are also said to become super creative.

Yes it is normal since you probably are day dreaming. You are becoming disoriented and your body is trying to sleep.

I can somewhat relate, but not closely. I have manic depression and I am most creative (writing songs, poems, and even papers for school in a flagrant fashion) during my periods of mania, where I don't sleep for extended periods of time (we're talking about 3 days on average). It's not healthy, but I produce some good work.

Surrealists tryed to access their subconscious creatifity in various ways. However the only method that didn't involve drugs was gettin up in the middle of the night.

So go on. Say no to drugs.

I can't relate at the moment, but I know exactly what you mean. It happens to me a lot.

This makes sense, cause when i am like 48 hours awake, every single time i close my eyes i start imagining random things and listening imaginary people talking to me.
