...When actually I'm a lot smarter than that.
I act stupid because it's fun, but mainly around my friends and family.
I did really well in school, I have a high IQ, and people are surprised when they realize how intelligent I really am because I always come off as an idiot.
Does anyone else do this? IIN?
I think that's typical for intelligent people. If others who are dumber than you can't understand you, they assume you must be stupid. And that's very frustrating.
So acting like an idiot on purpose is a form of resignation.
I do it in my house :-P I do silly things and my family thinks I am an idiot. It's fun
Yeah, I do this to an extent. Not so much that I act like an idiot but I'm silly and weird and out there and people always seem surprised to realise I'm intelligent.
Though that happens on here a lot too.. >.> What if I'm just stupid and am too stupid to know I'm stupid? Noooo.
Certain people think I'm an idiot too, but it isn't deliberate for me. It confuses me actually, because sometimes I'm being completely serious when I say these apparently idiotic things. Although maybe that just means I actually am an idiot:P. Anyway, it's normal for me.
I'm also very intelligent, but I've got off my high horse ages ago, after realizing some people without degrees can still be very smart and I really don't know everything.
I still surprise and amaze some people on different topics but I never try to show off my intelligence on things.
I find that it can intimidate people, it's a secret insecurity I think a lot of people have-knowing that some others went on to gain a higher education. So they resent them for being more knowledgeable and intelligent.
Smart people act dumb in order not to intimidate dumb people and lose their friendship or be considered nerdy/uncool. But you don't need to 'act dumb,' just try not to outwit others and be a smartass for no reason and you'll be fine.
What I can't stand are educated people who think that other educated people can't be as smart or as knowledgeable if not more so.
They can be quite stubborn and obnoxious, even when they're wrong-because they think they have all the right answers. I hate people like that and I'm sure most others do also.
I usually 'dumb myself' down around most people too. Still not really sure why I do this.
