I've recently turned 18 and have been dealing with the problem of dark, coarse hair on my nipples and the surrounding area since I was about 14. I have been so insecure about this especially in front of guys. I shave it now, but i feel like the only female with this issue. Will a guy ever accept it or be grossed out?
Im a man with hairy nipples. Maybe we should get together some time and intertwine our nipple hair. Know what Im sayin'.
Do you have issues with excess hair in other areas too, such as the face or around the navel? You might have PCOS. Its a gyneacological disorder caused by a hormonal imbalance when a woman has too much testosterone and starts having problems with acne and hair growth. You could try a birth control pill, the added estrogen might help fight the extra testosterone you might have but see a doctor and have your hormone levels tested first. Also, if you pick a birth control pill be wise to ask what kind of progesterone is used in that particular pill. Drospirenone in Yaz has a slightly higher risk of increased blood clots but it effectively combats extra hair growth and acne. Norgestrel in pills like Ovral is potent and has the longest half life and is most effective with preventing random bleeding or spotting but it can actually aggrivate disorders like PCOS. The type of progesterone (norgestrel) is a high androgenic one which means it is similar to testosterone.
I have fine dark hairs around my areola, but I shave them because I'd be super embarrassed if my fiance saw. I thought I was a freak, but maybe I'm not the only one. It really sucks though makes me feel abnormal. Didnt think other girls ever dealt with that.
What I remember reading in a magazine that I still do, is to deal with this problem, right after a hot shower, use tweezers to pluck the hairs. You can get in grown hairs so you need to be careful. Doing it after a hot shower will minimize the ingrown hairs though, but If you DO happen to get in grown hairs, use a microdermabrasion scrub to gently unearth the hairs.
I think it's pretty normal. I get some hairs on my areolas. They probably won't be that big of a deal, especially if a guy's accepting of other hair (armpit/leg/arm/pubic) but if they bug you by all means, shave/pluck them.
A lot of women have this but I wouldn't call it normal. It can be a symptom of hormone problems google PCOS and see if you have any other symptoms.
I wouldn't recommend shaving, pluck those suckers or use No! No! or something like that.
Never seen a chick with hairy nipples, didn't know it was possible.
U should like get the hair away tho cause like yeah.
Keep shaving it or pluck it out. Youre not the only woman though. I knew another woman that had the same problems, but she kept shaving it.
