Is it normal that i am jewish but do not believe in god?

So I am Jewish , but I really just do not believe there is some higher power up in the sky named god. I also feel uncomfortable because I am having a bar mitzvah in a few months but my tutor does not know I don't believe in god. And I think No offence, how can some guy ( Jesus) be killed and just come back to life ! And it's not just that! There are all of these stories that are just so bogus that have ZERO evidence and are just not possible! So Is it ok to be Jewish but not believe in god. Or should I just become an atheist right after my bar mitzvah? Is all of this normal?

There are plenty of people who identify as a cultural Jew but not a religious Jew, Albert Einstein was one.

Speak with your tutor about how you feel though. A bar mitzvah is generally a religious ceremony but I'm pretty sure that there are secular Jews who also celebrate them.

you have nerve. You're going around correcting everyone's grammar and spelling. Why don't you be more understanding, knowing full well what they other person is trying to say.

Technically you're not Jewish if you don't actually believe in the religion.

Yes many people do confuse the Israeli-American culture with being Jewish but they are actually two different things.

Always be honest with yourself. Follow your heart. Yes there is a God. Maybe not the one depicted in the jewish or cristian book but im sure there is a God because he answers my prayers and provides my every need. With out God in this world whats the point in any moral standards. If God wasnt real i would have killed many by now and been locked up in jail or dead. Pray to God with an open heart and ask him to show you the light. Just because something seems unrealistic doesnt mean it isnt possible. there is so much proof of unrealitic things happening everyday. With out God there is no real hope.

God is a load of garbage. It makes no sense why someone would believe there is some guy up in the sky, or wherever.

There is more to it than what you have stated. There ARE creatures, that have in the past, been perceived as 'god' or 'gods'. It is true that modern conceptions of these creatures are misinterpreted.

Of course, I was born into Christianity, but don't believe any of it. It takes a strong will to go against the norms you're brought up with from a young age.

I don't know why you mentioned Jesus because in fact, Jews do NOT believe that Christ rose from the dead. This is a Christian belief.

This is essentially correct. The traditional view of Jesus by Jews is that he was one of a number of false prophets.
Jesus was born into a Jewish family. Later in life, he was given ideas to improve the overall advancement of Humanity. Unfortunately, he ignored warnings and decided to use some of these ideas ( and to add some of his own ) to his own and to his associates advantage.

Dude. I'm Muslim and all and I can tell you for sure that perhaps because of my upbringing, I am agnostic. Nobody knows for sure and nobody can prove it. As for the Bar Mitzvah just place on a smiling mask and go through with it. Doing that would make you feel comfortable cuz that's what everyone does practically everyday anyway.

Your statement that," Nobody knows for sure and nobody can prove it", is false.
I know ( not everything ), but a greater understanding of this.
      This can be proven.

That's a pretty big call don't you think? I'm not aware of anyone in history who has been able to provide actual proof. That's why its called faith.

Yes, exactly! This is a momentous occasion in our History.
The faith must be in ourselves, not in supernatural beings.
Please ask me about the proof.

There is only one GOD of the Universe. Christianity has him. I having nothing against Jews at all. Hmmmmm?? Why was Jesus born in Jeruselum? I can accept ALL religions except MUSLIM. They have killed enough Christians, it is time for them to go home! The Jews Stay!

You stated that " There is only one GOD of the Universe." You had also said that you can accept "ALL religions except MUSLIM." What about all the other Deities perceived by all the other religions that you accept? Isn't your viewpoint a little selfish? Is this not a contradiction?
MUSLIM is not a religion. 'Muslim' describes an adherent of Islam.
What about all the Christians that have killed other Christians through history?
Jesus was born in Bethlehem not Jerusalem.

I would like to apologise to all the Buddhists for my mis-spelling as I sometimes become confused with the country of Bhutan, my deepest apologies.

Myself, I have searched the facts of Christ and you can see the same on the Cable Channel Discovery, History and Religion. All say the same thing. Are we being brain washed? I am noyt Catholic but the Virgin Mary appeared in a tree in a park near Philadelphia some years back and asked all crippled, blind and christian belivers to appear amd be healed. Today, that sight is fenced off and is full of wheel chairs, crutches, walkers and more. Who was this mystic sighting? Mary died many, many years ago as did Jesus. If you want to be an athiest, this is fine. It is like the old saying when driving, if just one person stayed home today, there would be room for me. I am sorry to disappoint you but YES, there is a GOD and a Jesus. But you will never know. You, my friend will belong to the Demonic side of spiritualism. I am sorry to see this happen to you. I happen to be with a World Wide Organization about Christ. What I have said, will be the end of this conversation. I will pray that God will be with you at death to take you home with us. God Bless You Always!

The Creatures that you perceive as 'god' are very, very disappointed with you.
They tell me, that you are stubborn and that you're a quitter.
Unfortunately, your Ethical Rating has been downgraded.
You assert that you have "searched the facts", when you clearly have not.

Your first two statements show good morality. I would suggest that you should have included to think with your mind, as well. I can not refute your statement that, "there is a God." There is, however, a misconception of this. You have deceived yourself into believing that it is a singular entity; that they are in communication with you, and that they have provided your every need. In fact, you have provided for yourself, and there is still much space for improvement.
Please re- read your second- last sentence. This is absolutely true.
There is hope, but we need to have more faith in ourselves. If we do not make significant improvements, there will be no assistance.

I find it amusing sometimes how people preach about god saving them all when God DID create the entire universe. We are insignificant ants on such a vast plain of endless stars and black holes yet these preachers talk as though God would save them from every plight.

There ARE truths to Creation Myth.
We are not "ants", and the Universe is not a " plain".
There IS significance to our existence.
The Universe has both a finite and infinite quality.

Isn't this what the whole 'dont take the lord's name in vain' is really about? Taking it in your vanity? Believing you're so special and above others because god has chosen you above others? I wince whenever I see someone claiming they won an award or played a good game of football or whatever because god helped them. To me these are the most vain and arrogant claims.
