Is it normal that i am petrified to sleep in my house alone?

I've lived in this house for about nine months now. I had a roommate for a little while but now it's just me. I am unable to function in my house by myself. I am horrified that someone is going to break into my house. It's just so small and there'd be nowhere to hide or really escape if someone did break in. I know that this isn't normal, but I'm really looking for advice here more than anything. I only have to live like this for another 3 weeks and then I'm moving for good.

Arm yourself, get a gun and keep it handy. I have a few at my house. Ill make hamburger out of anyone that breaks in.

If I were in your shoes I'd feel safer owning a dog.

If you are really, legitimately scared it might be worth it to invest some money into something that might make you feel more secure. There's a variety of options, from home security systems to tasers to fire arms, although if you do chose to purchase a weapon, I'd recommend extensive training because it can often be more dangerous to possess a weapon if you don't know how to use it (it can be taken away from you and used against you).

I'd opt for an alarm system if I had the money. Even if you don't, you can buy stickers from alarm companies and attach them to your windows and door to deter possible break ins.

If you can't afford home security, you might want to look into getting a roommate that you trust. You could use the reduction in bills to install a home security system, and if that's not possible, at least you won't be alone,

Good luck : ) I've lived alone and been freaked out before- it's not fun.

The same goes for me. I put it down to being burgled twice and watching far too many horror stories. Luckily I haven't had to sleep home alone for a couple of years on account of having a ridiculous amount of housemates. I don't think I was home alone once in 18 months.
