So i wrote a song called "lucid dream" a few years ago and i thought i was being original because there were no other songs out there with that title
so i put on the radio today to hear a song called "lucid dreams" and it sounds like any other generic love/breakup song.
such a waste of a good song title
is it normal that i am pissed the fuck off?
Many people have business ideas and when they see someone else took it up before them, but not as well, they get upset... Just do your own thing. Do it better if you think you can.
His idea of the song was a crappy breakup song or whatever like every other song out there
my idea of the song was about being free and being in control and being able to do things in your own world that you otherwise wouldn't be able to do in the real world.
The important thing is to create something unique to you and then to name it something symbolic. Doing this prevents any like feelings of jealousy or envy since you developed personal feelings and spoke from within.
I have experienced coming up with "cool" ideas and then becoming upset someone used something similar, but I now realize I was more upset that I hadn't put forth the effort into fully creating it and receiving praise for it.
I now see what's most important is living authentically and being true to myself.
i have so many great ideas but i feel hopeless because i don't have a record label backing me and if i release songs on my i own i'm afraid that i won't get to see the full potential i know it has.
The point to life is not to give people a free pass to do as they please. Anything you want you'll have to work for. I think it's unfair how the homeless are vilified as mentally impaired criminals. Typically these things offer us an opportunity to overcome a struggle, which helps us become better people if we allow it.
With so many people in the world, they're bound to come up with the same title. What matters is if your song is different.

Even the greatest have the same title sometimes. Don’t worry about it ;)
Generally speaking, titles can't be copyrighted, so you can still use the one you chose.
You could write a novel about a Renaissance prince searching for treasure Leonardo da Vinci had hidden and use the title 'The Da Vinci Code' if you wanted. But if you used the pen-name D. Brown, and used cover art that was very similar to that on the original ghastly crock of shite, then you'd be on very shaky ground.
If you produced your song using distinctive elements from the tune you heard on the radio and called it 'Lucid Dreams', then you'd be opening yourself up to legal action. But if you used a tune of your own creation, the lyrics were completely different, and the artist's name didn't resemble the name of the group you heard, then the only thing stopping you from using your chosen title is the possibility of confusion in the minds of the buying public.
Chill.
Your song is still an original and no one can take that away. As for titles... Does it really matter? There's a chance that millions of people share the same name as you. Does it makes you less unique of a person?
