Is it normal that i am so scared of new places?

I have dyspraxia, so i have little to no sense of direction. This means i get incredibly scared when i go to new places, for example i shake, sweat, vomit, get tension headaches (i get them anyway, but they are stronger under these circumstances) and i pass out and can sometimes be unconscious for up to ten minutes... Is that normal?

  • It doesn't sound normal. I suggests that you go to places with friends you trust who can reassure you that nothing will happen except that you'll have a good time.

haha Apparently I have dyspraxia too but I hate labels so don't want it stuck on me.

I ALWAYS get lost and could go to the same place 30 times before I would ever remember the way. Nor do I know my right from my left so can't follow directions.

First of all, seeing as you know you're going to feel awkward - just laugh at the thought of the worst thing possible thing that could happen.

Secondly you have to work out what it is you are afraid of. I was brought up in Belfast during the 'Troubles' with bombs going off etc so do you think you're going to be shot / die ;o)

In the past, this hasn't happened and the odds of anything physically frightening happening to you are extremely slim if you are with friends.
