Is it normal that i am still scared of random things at night?

Many people have experienced the inability to go to sleep when they were little because of fear. For example, I was scared of things I made up, and did almost ritualistic things to subdue my fear (if only a little).
However, that went away, and, unless I had recently watched/read something scary, I could get a pretty good night's sleep.
Now I creep myself out again. I will be lying on my side, imagine something behind me, and have to flip around to check, and then flip back. I also flick on the lights a lot, as in the dark, I start to get scared of that random blob, and I have to turn the lights on to reassure myself. Every night I have been getting less than five hours of sleep, and I can't stand it. Is this normal? Any advice on how to fix it?

well, alone,in a room, without anybody to call, sick, surrounded by people who as far as I am concerned, have all the intentions of hurting me, with no access to a phone, hoping my abscess won't get a whole lot worse all of a sudden and finally kill me, Feeling so damn weak I wouldn't even be capable of running away should anybody try doing something funny, with nobody nearly trustworthy enough to rely on,Knowing somebody is going to eventually take advantage of me and this shitty situation, steal my jewgold or something,(just kidding) watching very disturbing horror movies and listening to Marilyn Manson music, with my neighbour freaking me out following me around, always going to the bathroom same exact time I do,and waking me up at night producing the funkiest noises, turning on the laundry machine at two o'clock in the bloody night and stuff, besides all this, I still manage to pass out and sleep without much troubles.
But yeah they will eventually manage to make me get a nervous breakdown.
