Is it normal that i argue against all sides of an issue?

I often join heated debates on online forums and argue against whichever side seems to have the most support, no matter what my own personal beliefs are. I do this with religious debates frequently. I can make the most devout Christian or the most intelligent atheist (or the most intelligent Christian or most devout atheist, as is just as often the case) resort to mindless name calling. I just love arguing, and don't really have any genuine emotional investment in any popular topic of debate today. Is this normal?

Arguing for the sake of arguing. Silly, but if that's how you get your thrills...

I find people like you boring. Just coz I grew up with a mother who contradicts every single thing that everyone says. Just coz she's a hateful witch, who never grew up - and not for a good debate.

This seems to be typical teenage behaviour, for young people who need attention.

Teenagers generally ARE emotionally invested in nearly everything, and do not have the self-command to play the "devil's advocate."

  • Rufus, you do not exist.

You are merely a figment of imagination or else an artificial intelligence.

I've nearly reached the same conclusion myself a couple of times.

This question is hysterical... I was LMAO because so many people do this....and yes it is normal....its called playing devil's advocate...some do it to no avail and are better than others at it....the moral is to recognize when somebody is purely fucking with you vs a purposeful debate....when to make your point and walk away with dignity so as not to continually give the other person power to incessantly fuck with you....

i do the same thing with any topic I always sympathise with the moral minority, mostly because it's fun to see people get pissed off over nothing... They always end up calling me a troll instead of actually proving me wrong

Me too! For me its that.. Joy in being anti-status quo, and considering more sides of the topic.
