After all, he's responsible for terrorism, many wars, the killing of 10s of millions of innocent people, is a huge hypocrite and just in general is a complete asshole.
If there is a god, he either doesn't interact with our world, or doesn't care. Either way it is humans who do the things you mention. Humans have the free will to do what they want regardless of morals, because morals are a choice.
Now THIS is a post for thegypsysailor!
As for myself, I don't believe in a deity, but the character of "God" in your silly fairy tales seems like a complete monster.
Just because someone does something "in _______'s name" doesn't mean that whoever they quote is affiliated with or endorses the action in any way. A person could rob a bank and say they did it for my sake, but I would not want any part of the bank robbery and condemn the person for the bank robbery.
"After all, he's responsible for terrorism, many wars, the killing of 10s of millions of innocent people, is a huge hypocrite and just in general is a complete asshole."
God is the source of all things he is not responsible for what we do with the free will that he has given us, those are OUR choices not his, he literally has a book(The Bible, have you heard of it?) directing us on the right choices to make and what we SHOULD actually do.. stop blaming God he only wants the best for us, but we're the ones not listening
That sounds like Gnosticism.
Gnostics believe that God exists, but is either incompetent or evil, that he's keeping souls shackled in physical three dimensional bodies within his flawed creation. Imperfect God cannot create a perfect universe, no matter how many times he attempts to recreate it.
They believe that most major religions were created by the same God, to divive and mislead people.
Some branches believe that anti-matter is the natural state of souls, and that black holes were left behind by gnostics who have already overcome God and escaped. With enough holes punched into it, the whole creation will eventually collapse and everyone will be able to go free.
Curiously, recent research by Stephen Hawking suggests that black holes might indeed be gateways to another reality: http://www.hawking.org.uk/into-a-black-hole.html
if you truely understood the laws of energy you would understand God...you think something is good or bad based on your limited human perspective...many things that you call evil may be good from a different perspective...we need to start listening to the natural laws of the universe and try to follow them and then there will be less individual suffering
Oh I get it your mocking my grammer how cute. I can only imagine how dull your life must be to go around passive aggressively poking fun at people you could at least have the courage to just own it. Or in other words I own a coward.
You can't take a joke? Geez why are you even here, "becos" you have quite a thin skin. This isn't the place for people who wanna dish it out but can't take it as well. You can be mean to others all day and I make a joke and your litte feelings get hurt. Aren't you a special little sensitive thingy wangy?
I don't understand trinity.
Wasn't jesus the son of gawd through mary's immaculate conception? If not, then I've not understood the x-mas story all these years.
How come you only see the bad stuff? What about the beauty and complexities of nature. Do you believe everything wasn't designed?
I'm not religious but I wasraised Catholic.
I thought God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were the one in the same. It's all God. God created a son from himself to spread his message.
And to answer the OP. Somebody else said it but you are referring to the freewill that God gave us. So technically it's not his fault that we kill each other... in God's name nonetheless. We make our own decisions regardless of why.
Now I said I wasn't religious and I meant it. I don't believe any of this. This is just what I was taught for 14 years (I was confirmed and never looked back). If I was to believe that a Christian God does exist I would believe that Earth was a big experiment gone wrong and that he really had no idea what was going to happen and we as humans can't accept that. So we blame it on God. I'll never for the life of me understand why some people just have to have something to believe.
