Is it normal that i believe in elements instead of gods?

I don't like the idea of gods, I feel like it's similar to stroking someone's ego. I've researched many religions, but I still feel like I'd rather believe in a universal balance and the elements of nature (i.e. fire, water, earth, etc.). Is this normal?

Oh, I thought you meant the type of elements you'd find on the periodic table, which would make more sense. Although I don't believe in God either, I don't see why it has to be one or the other in this case.

This post has made me want to look up element jokes, they're too funny! You're normal btw.

I got suckered the same way with this post. Especially because there's some crossover (Helium, Mercury, Titanium) and some of the reasons the elements got their names is almost like mythology (like why copper is called copper).

I believe that all religions say the same thing that there is an energy, entity etc out there and that we all use words to communicate this with eachother. In history as we geographically moved around the globe our languages changed. We all agree there is something else out there. We just fight over which words are right. Humans are meant to be wild. We are meant to be one with nature. But the Metal Snake called technology has overtaken our minds. We think we know things. We KNOW NOTHING!!! We only know theories.

    Those aren't elements.
    They're classical elemental forms.
Elements are substances like Manganese, Darmstadtium, Argon and of course, my favorite, Strontium.

That's called Copernicium now, it hasn't been Ununbium since 2009.

yeah, i understand. i prefer not to personify because people are naturally judgmental. nature isn't. (i experienced this-when talking out my worries to my pet cat, she just meows, purrs, or comes and sits on my lap. no matter what i say. and i almost always get the solution sooner than if i talk to a person.) and yes, fire, earth, air and water hold power too. some people just may not see it. i believe in karma, and one single entity similar to the one mentioned in the Vedas.

I'm curious what exactly it is you believe. What does Universal Balance even mean? The universe as it is is very unbalanced in many ways, it's a left handed universe afterall. What exactly about fire or water do you believe that religious people wouldn't?

  • whatever makes you happy... At least this way you can have 115 gods, and every time they add something to the periodic table you'll get a new holiday at work!

Doesn't that mean that you worship the Avatar?

In all seriousness, I disagree with your belief but I can respect it.
