Is it normal that i can play fetch with my indoor cat?

Whenever I throw something small like a bottlecap on the floor or something and my cat sees it, he runs towards the object, stalks it, attacks it, and brings it back. We can do it for like an hour before she gets bored. IIN? btw she's 2 years old

My cat is the best cat ever. I raised him since he was born (found him and his bros/sisters outside mewing during a rainstorm, brought them all in including the mom) and fostered him when his mom died a couple days later. He plays fetch with me too, since he was tiny. He started by catching little pieces of tp I would tear off and let float through the air (we'd play while I was in the bathroom because he didn't want to be away from me for too long). Later I'd throw things like the plastic part of a milk top that you pull off, or a rubber band, or one of those plastic disks from a toy disk-shooter gun. He learned to jump in the air and catch these with his mouth. Sometimes he would jump up and catch it between his paws. He is so talented. I've wondered if other cats fetched too, then I saw on the Internet that it is totally normal. Have fun with your kitty.

Actually many people have cats that do this. I think it makes a big difference if you raise them from babies apposed to randomly just picking up an adult cat. My theory is this. Cats are solitary creatures by nature. I think if you raise them from babies though and are sweet to them they tend to be more friendly and playful even if its just to you the owner.

Some breeds of cat are very dog-like and that's normal.

I thought my cat was just weird too until I found this lol. My cat is just over a year old and is grey and white. She plays fetch all the time and actively seeks us out to play fetch and it's not just random items either. She loves straws she has many stashed around the house and when she wants to play she picks it up and brings it to us no matter where we are in the house. You can always tell when she's coming to play because as she is coming she meows with the straw in her mouth lol

If your cat is a Siamese/Burmese (or Siamese/Burmese cross) cat it is perfectly normal. These cats are super intelligent and need a lot of care and attention. I have one and it is part cat, part dog, part human and part monkey. Just check youtube for 'cat playing fetch' and you'll see most are Siamese cats.

    After all that..is it a Siamese/Siamese cross?

i think its very normal what you described yeah, but when i saw the word fetch in your question i was like wtf, thats what dogs do. but yeah our cats like to stalk random objects and chase em around too, but i think all cats do that :/ they dont bring it back though, they just claim it for themselves :)

Awwww! I remember when my cat did that. She's 18 now. The highlight of her day now is eating. You are lucky!!

lol our older cats only 2, and the highlight of his day is eating too, hes a freakon fat ass :/ he still plays with random objects but he just keeps getting lazier and less energetic as he gets older so pretty soon he'll be like your cat. i even say, he's only 2 and he acts like he's old :/

Very normal! You're both very lucky, few cats will teach themselves that trick, but it's often the sign of a strong bond between you both!

    Have fun with it!
