There are over 20 different British accents... Which are you referring to?
My first language is not english and I prefer listening to British because I understand what they say. I think that this is the right way to speak english.
I love the northern Irish accent...and the Scottish accent....and the Aussie accent...New Zealand is good too...ok I'll stop. I'm an American woman; of course accents give me a lady boner.
Normal, but I think many a young American woman like men with British accents. Makes them moist apparently. LOL
British accents vary immensely. But yeah, fair enough. There's an American chick who works opposite me (not sure whereabouts she's from) and she has ZERO volume control and the worst accent - her voice sends shivers up my spine.
Is it the upper-middle class accent or the lower class one that you find annoying?
Our accents are awesome, except for the scour accent that feels like knives in my ears.
As someone with a South West English accent, I can't really be objective! :P
All I can say, is that I think it's normal to have preferences for certain accents, and dislike others.
The older I get the more I dislike any accents. I really can't say why, I think a lot of people greatly exaggerate their accent .
I like most English accents, not Irish or Welsh though(can't undestand no shit). Scottish is quite funny, it took me years to be able to understand Glaswegian though.
I think the ones on TV are overly exaggerated. I think the normal kinds are fine and actually somewhat more pleasant than American accents.
