Is it normal that i can't stand christianity

Ok, so just as insurance i do not want any hate or criticism for this post
recently i have noticed that i can't really stand religion, particularly christianity, I have been an atheist for a long time but have only really been having these feelings recently.
i know i should tolerate and respect all cultures and beliefs but cannot seem to avoid a natural hatred/loathing, this is primarily due to the fact that, after disregarding common religious theory as pure fiction, i find it hard to take theism seriously, is this normal, i am primarily looking for other atheists who may or may not feel the same way, but anyone's opinion is valued

    Yeah, it's normal.
I'm a Christian, but I don't hate atheism. I see intellectual value in all religions.

Even as a Christian myself, I can see why you don't like Christianity. Some Christians are judgemental, scripture manipulating, all around insufferable people. Others actually follow the Bible to a tee and love everyone as God says they should ; I like to think of myself as one of those Christians. And even I don't agree with certain things in the Bible, but I love the Lord. Maybe you should just try to find some different Christians and your view will change.

Yes I agree! Most Christians aren't perfect. That's from sin, but if you open your heart to a God who offers perfect salvation and love through Jesus, I'm not sure where you'd go wrong. And if you're skeptical about "just another religious leader" I'd research and compare the evidences for Christ compared to other religious founders. This is a good discussion!

It's really, really bad to say. Christianity is the last acceptable prejudice. If you say "I really hate Muslims" or "I really hate Jews," you get yourself into some hot water. How is saying "I really hate Christians" any more acceptable than that?

First of all, there's a difference between hating a religion and hating the people who practice it.

Second, the reason picking on Christianity is different than picking on any other religion is because Christianity is the dominant religion in the US. Over 90% of Congress is Christian. If you walk up to someone on the street and didn't know any better, you'd assume they were christian. Christianity has the power.

It's kind of the same as the reason picking on a 6 foot tall football player is different than picking on a kid in a wheelchair, if you pick on the powerless you're just being a jerk.

Religion is diminishing. We are living in the most rapidly changing times. We were riding on horseback and sailing across ocean's only 100 years ago. In that small span of time we have everyone in cars, trains, planes and can send people into space. Religion is on it's way out the door.

i take values from all religions. im primarily christian but i respect science as well. i dont believe that the pope has any divine right over other people or anything like that. i also dont believe alot of the stuff that the church says. i believe in the core values, not in the fluff of the church

To hate Christianty is to simply missunderstand it. How could you hate a god that loves you, sent His son to die for your sins so that you could spend an eternity in Heaven with Him? You couldnt possibly! Ive been a Christian all my life and I can absolutly that there are some harsh judging people that claim to be Christians! Listen to me.... God doesn't like the way they act and He never says to act that way towards anyone! So please don't judge the whole religion based off of people who had deeply missunderstood the teachings of the bible.
I want you to do somthing, for yourself. I mean I know you don't believe in a God, but wouldn't you hate to be wrong? The consequenses of being wrong about this sort of this is an eternity of utter pain and saddness! So what the heck, why not check it out right? What can it hurt to just be sure? Buy the book "A Case for Christ" written by Lee Stobel. A former athiest that absoutely refussed the idea of Christianity, until he proved it to himself through science! Read this bool and then think about how you feel about Chritianty then! Don't let me or anyone tell you what to believe, find out for yourself, it's your life and your eternity, both are worth reading a book for... Don't you think?

listen, considering what i expressed within my OP, i am not open to conversion or the opinions of one man, however thoughtful or philosophical he was

I was raised Catholic and a lot of my family is still Catholic. I can't stand what that religion does to people (myself included). The arbitrary rules and constant guilt trips drive me batty. On the other hand, that's no reason to start hating on religious people. Whether someone is a good person or a bad person has almost nothing to do with their religion.

Gandhi: 'I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ'

Is it Christianity or Christians you don't like? They're two separate things.

So Hitler, Gandhi, and Stalin are talking in a bar. Hitler says, “I plan on killing 1 MILLION Jews, and 1 Dentist.”

      Ghandi asks, “Why 1 Dentist?”

Hitler looks at Ghandi then at Stalin and says, “See? I told you Ghandi didn’t care about Jews”

Moral of the Story- FUCK GANDHI.

      or something like that.
