I know what it's like to lose a pet to tragedy. My caterpillar Harry was run over in a freak car accident. He was too young.

    R.I.P. Harry

Sorry...I'm the one who ran over harry. But in my defense he shouldn't have been jay walking.

It's indeed sad, pets can become like family. And Sarah whatshername is really good at tugging at emotional heart strings. You should check out the song "Silence" by Delirium, she's the singer on it. Pretty good song. Sorry about Larry. Consider a more resilient rodent, like an armadillo, next time.

yah, pets are like family, they come and go. At least you always know they are in a better place

A better place? Hmmm... I don't want to be the downer in this thread, because I don't want to dishonor your grief, but if your little buddy was euthanised he might not be in a better place at all. That's all I'm going to say unless you really want me to tell you more. Of course you could also use Google to find out what I'm getting at.

Of course, if you gave him a viking burial or some such it's all good, and he's in a better place. Just imagine... Hamster Valhalla... wow.

Only if you go to dog heaven... maybe you can get a job in fire plug repair, I hear the acidic qualities in urine make them deteriorate.

You'll cry as long as you need to and then you'll stop: it's called grief and it's totally normal.

However I have to say that angel's arms don't seem to go with hamsters, but if they do for you that's ok too

The only reason it goes with that song, is because it says " in the arms of a angel, fly away from here" xD

My pet budgie parakeet died this year too :( He wasn't even old, but he had injured his right foot somehow and could hardly take care of himself TTOTT He will be forever in my heart...
And as if things couldn't get bad enough, on the day that he died, my MP player was on shuffle, and what song comes on? Only "Under Your Tree" by Sonata Arctica... Which by the way the singer wrote when his dog died. And then the tears came pouring out and I cried and cried...

I've never really heard of anyone being that emotionally attached to a hamster before, but I would imagine it is possible. Nonetheless, grieving over the loss of beloved pet is quite normal.

yes, it's totally normal. I had a dog named Golden, he was a golden retriever. one night our family was robbed, and I almost got kidnapped and my dog saved me, but suffered a broken back. We took him in to get up down that night :(
