Is it normal that i can't think after 9pm?

When i get home from school im barely alive i shower and it wakes me up a bit but not to a great extent. Anyway i start working straight away like starting 5pm up till 9pm. AFter that i just can't anymore, i cant concentrate, it feels like my brain dosent take anything in, im doing my a-levels right now and i am working my butt off, i usually sleep at like 11 and i know that means i could fit in another hour but im just too damn tired. My friends can stay up till 12 working, they'll text me at 10 telling me how there gonna start maths and then are shocked that im not working. Is it normal?

First of all while studying please take breaks i n between. You need rest for the mind!

I can stay up as long as I like but once I sleep I can't wake up no matter what.

    Yeah it's normal (well...for me.I'm brain dead after 9.)
I'm completely incompetent after that time

I can usually make it to, oh, say 10:30ish, and then I'm done. But 9 is better if I don't want to be fatigued all day the next day (I have to get up around 6AM).

It's not good that you're barely alive after school, but it is normal that you aren't productive after 9 pm. I'm the same way...after 10pm, no matter how late I woke up, I don't want to do anything "productive".

Usually my brain works better at night but it sounds like you're draining yourself. I'd say it's normal but not healthy.

It was revising until 4am every morning in the last three months before my A levels that gave me a caffeine addiction for years after. Whatever you do, don't do that.

Perhaps your body clock doesn't make you as alert in the evening? Have you tried going to bed as soon as you get in, then waking up an hour or two earlier and trying to study then? The end of your day is now your time at work and the part of your day when you feel most active is the time you need to; when you're studying.
