Is it normal that i changed my name six times?

My parents have gifted me with an unpronouncible, unspellable and utterly horrendous-sounding name. I wouldn't name a dog that, myself.
When I went to school as a young teen, everyone mispronounced and misspelled it to the point I took offense, and decided to change it to something normal. However, as people at school were so used to making fun of my given name, they'd never call me by the name I chose. I looked at diffrent names for one they would use, and ended up changing it six times. Plus, my parents never approved of them, because hey, isn't it so great to have a child named like a kind of algae?
I found a name that people would actually use and it's fine now, but looking back, I wonder is it normal thing to happen?

  • It's normal that you'd want to change your name, but not so normal that you changed it six times and expected everyone to go along with it. It's normal to be incongruous like that as a younger teenager though, so don't worry about it.

  • stick with your choice now and let everyone get used to it and the old name will be a distant memory (try and remember never to turn your head to it again)

You need to find a name that speaks to you and stick with it. 6 times!? You're making this harder on yourself when it doesn't need to be.
