Is it normal that i chew my hair?

I have a bad habit of chewing the ends of my hair. I do this often when writing essays or taking tests, so I think it's a kind of energy release when my body builds up tension. Sometimes the whole side of my hair is sopping wet by the time I'm done. Is this normal? Should I worry about swallowing hair?

Chewing gum works the same way.

    Chew gum, not hair.

On 1000 Ways To Die there was this woman who chewed her hair all the time and she died because all the swallowed hair formed a big ball in her stomach and blocked everything up so she couldn't eat properly or anything. They took the ball out in the autopsy. Freaking horrific.
