Is it normal that i chew my tongue when i smell or see carpet?

Hey I have a weird habit that I really can't explain. Everytime I smell new carpet, hear somebody say the word in a certain kind of way..I have this overwhelming urge to chew on my tongue. I chew the sides in particular and if to constant it will become sore. So, what I have to do now even if I see any carpet commercials, I get my toothbrush and softly satisfy the feeling that my tongue is desiring. I can't walk through Pier One Imports without chewing my tongue or the smell of certain types of wood. I don't have a desire to eat it, but just want to have a carpet sample and lick it from time to time. I guess I will have to continue using my toothbrush until I can't get a carpet sample hunh? :0) I just want to know is there anyone else out there who is experiencing this craving for the texture of a clean carpet across their tongue?? #Itpacifiesme

Much like whenever I come in contact with velvet, I grit my teeth, cringe and so on. But I don't bite my tongue.

Wow! What a coincidence! I just left a comment on someone else's post about me having to chew my tongue whenever I see a sponge. Talk about the laws of attraction!
