Is it normal that i could care less if this dog was murdered?

So I love dogs, I’ve always found them easy to be around and really special animals.
Anyways, my friend has the dog (a chihuahua) and it is the most disgusting and bad behaved piece of shit. It constantly bites her, humps our shoes while growling (and if you push it off it’ll run right back and growl) It barks non stop and constantly pees everywhere. It’s bitten me on the face more than once and even my friend, who is the owner, thinks he’s hell to be around. Why she doesn’t get rid of little “Mikey” I don’t know. I hate going over to her house now.
But I constantly pray that that thing can just cease to exist somehow. Run over, drowns, housefire....I don’t care, I just wish it would die.

I mean, I love dogs. Just not that dog. But is it normal to feel so strongly against him?

Those dogs can live to be 18 or even longer. If your friends going to keep it, she should try obedience training.

  • Those dogs are notorious for being high strung little bastards. My friend has one and thing barks non-fucking stop.

  • Update! I talked to her seriously about it while at lunch and was finally able to coax her into going into obedience school with it. She’s relecutant (and embarrassed) but I told her I would go and support her...and ugh, her rat dog.
I don’t think it will do much, but it’s a step in the right direction.

It won't do a damn thing if she thinks it's the dog that sucks and not her "parenting" methods. Google "internal and external locust of control". Your friend is probably irresponsible and lazy. Type B personality, probably? "Live and let live." Those people tend to be more prone to allowing themselves to behave in socially unacceptable ways and then pretending those things don't bother them in others, because mental gymnastics is an art form haha.

  • You have your reasons for not liking him, so it's normal.

You don't have to hit it at all. If you have to resort to violence, you are a poor dog trainer.

Hitting is punishment. Punishment is not discipline. It is a FORM of discipline. An unnecessary one.

Very true. Also, hitting a dog will only increase the chances of it biting or attacking you.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • If I hit my dogs with force (not light butt spanks), you’re right it would be abuse.

But most the time discipline comes in a way they understand. I made sure to do research on dogs and stuff so I’d be able to affectionately lead and protect them in a way they could understand.

My friend, doesnt want to do that. So she refuses that I do simple discipline techniques (like holding on the ground for a few seconds to show who is boss and then letting go) because she’s scared I’ll hurt him. That’s not my intention.

I of course wouldn’t care if some random act of nature wiped that thing out and into oblivion. But I don’t abuse animals.

Perhaps she feels some guilt over the fact that it is her fault the dog wasn't better trained?

    • Maybe, I mean, whenever I bring it up she agrees that something needs to be done. But she never does anything about it.

Some people shouldn't own dogs. Or breed.

        • She’s told me that she never wants another dog again. I said she should just give it up to a shelter, but she’s refused to do that because she feels it’d be “giving up on him.” And that’s like the only thing she does about it.

Why doesn't she get help training it? Shelters really aren't a great back up plan. They're at capacity without another person giving up their dog because they're too lazy to care for it.

            • I should suggest that to her. I’ll be meeting up with her this afternoon to have lunch, maybe I’ll tell her to think about getting a trainer then.

She already gave up, but she shouldn't surrender it. She should stop being a lazy POS and FIND it a good home, although she already created a little shitty monster, so who the fuck is going to want to UNTRAIN the horrible "training" she's done and then RETRAIN the thing...they are SO HARD TO TRAIN! She done fooked up...she shouldn't own a dog.

  • Yep! Normal! Sounds like the little spoiled shitzu that lives down my street. These little dogs become shits because their owners think it will “hurt them” to discipline them because they’re so small, which is bullshit. I had a jack Russell terrier that I scolded when he did something wrong, and he actually turned out a really good dog. People think scolding or gently smacking a dog when it behaves aggressively is cruel, but really not disciplining your dog is more cruel. They become entitled brats that will probably end up getting mauled to death one day because because they tried to start a fight with a big dog.

I see you still haven't learnt that hitting is wrong.

Discipline and punishment are not synonymous.

      • Hitting is not wrong if the dog is doing something that warrents it. And hitting and abusing are not the same thing. I have never hit a dog hard enough to cause injury. Unless they’re doing something super wrong I don’t hit at all. (like behaving aggressively towards another animal). Most of the time using a strong voice is enough to get them to stop. But some dogs are more stubborn and may do things that need a stronger reprimand.

This is somewhat true in CERTAIN cases with certain breeds. If you hit a Chi, even gently, it's going to have a negative effect on it's future behavior because it is going to run from you the next time it thinks your mad,bc it is a nervous breed (heavy inbreeding throughout the centuries has caused this :( ). Now, a Jack Russell? Ive had a Jack bite me so hard I had to hit it against a wall to get it off of my arm. It was NOT scared of me and even challeged me MORE after the incident. Jack Russels are a brave, overconfident, and persistent breed. You could smack a shitty Jack and it would forget the second it hears a door open, keys jingle, or another dog...dogs have personalities similar to people. You have to learn each dog's type, then adapt your training appropriately. Anyone who has 1 method of training for a dog is an idiot.

I'm a bit biased because I love chihuahuas, but I can still relate. I know someone with a lab that's out of control and would always steal food from the kitchen. He would bark really loud in my face if he wanted something, and if I couldn't figure out what he wanted, then it would be nonstop barking. Very aggravating! He looks cute but I honestly wouldn't care what happened to him. It's not really his fault either, he's just a dog. He's just not for me.

For comparison, my own dog is small, very quiet and simply walks up to me with doe eyes when he wants something. He's very hesitant about people food so we've never had any problems with kitchen messes or theft. He couldn't steal most things if he tried anyway.

Both of these dogs are friendly to people. It just so happens that unfortunately the bigger dog became the bigger brat.

    All I will say is.
I have no love for football dogs either.
    I don't wish them dead.
But, I also don't care if they die.
    Pretty much worthless.
As long as their someone else's pet.
    It's not my problem.

I've always hated Chihuahuas but loved dogs. I always believed that dogs are prodcuts of their environments, for the most part, and that it's the owners who male tjem shitty. So I decided to adopt a Chihuahua and test this theory. I HATE yappy little mutts...ugh...my Chihuahua was, and still is, the toughest dog I've ever trained, but he wasn't impossible. He is THE best behaved Chihuahua I've ever known, because i treat him like he is a big dog (not physically, obv.). I do NOT allow myself to be lazy and give into the, "bah, he's so small he's not actually hurting anything" mentality that I often want to give in to, haha, because I would be doing the breed, all breeds, and dog lovers, a disservice, because I know I HATE badly behaved dogs. I love dogs so i want others to like them too, so i obviously want my dogs to be well behaved AND happy, so people who don't know if they like dogs will see a positive representation of the species, not a negative one. But people are fucking lazy and pieces of shit and entitled and ipso facto....SMALL DOG SYNDROME has skyrocketed amongst the tiny breeds. Back to your point though. It is normal to want this dog to die. You know it's not the dog's fault, but.you also know your friend isn't going to stop being a POS owner, so you know the dog's behavior will never change. Why would you wish it a long life lol? I used to dog sit a Jack Russell who was a fucking TERROR. Her owner let the dog rule the house and would call her psycho aggressiveness, "just her being nervous." The dog ended up biting my arm so badly while trying to attack my dog for a treat, that I needed stitches and will forever have the scar. I watched the dog one more time after the incident and had such horrible wishes for it, I had to tell the owner i couldn't sit for her anymore...her dog was shitty, and she WANTED it to be that way and fostered an environment for it that exacerbated its bad behavior. The dog had even had a stroke previously, which at first I was SUPER sympathetic to. After getting to know the dog and how shitty it and its owner was...I kept wishing it would stroke out again and die. Is that normal? Yeah, having the thought is normal, acting on those thoughts would make it not normal. We usually don't have control over our initial thoughts about something new. Thoughts are there to be deduced and weighed. It's totally normal to have bad thoughts because without yin there would be no yang. Wihtout bad there would be no good. To act on those thoughts you have deemed bad, would not be "normal". We have control over our actions because of our consciousness, which our thoughts are very much a part of. Our actions are controllable because we can understand our thoughts. Anyway...you're not weird or evil for wishing death upon the little shit...and i am in LOVE with my Chi! but a shitty dog...is a shitty dog...youre not normal if you pretend to be okay with a shit ass dog.

I love all animals. Can never imagine hating one. The dog sounds like it needs some kind of doggie sedative. Should be taken to the vet.

  • That’s understandable, I mean, in pack order, Dogs use biting abd nipping to show dominance.
Their behavior is different from ours, I mean, even though I hate my friends dog- I dont think I’d abuse it. I would however throw it’s sorry ass in a cage. I would push it off the couch, and I would make sure it had some manners.
She just doesn’t seem to know /how/ to do that.
