Is it normal that i count (and group) road lines & cars during travel?

I've always gotten a little car sick, so I guess it's a way of distracting myself from that, but I just need to know if I'm alone in doing this.

What I do is that when I'm a passenger in the car, I either group road lines (the dashes down the middle of the road) or cars going the other way into sets of: 6, 5, 5, 5 and 4. If it's road lines, I draw a mental line either side of them (left 6, right 5) and alternate.

I've tried to explain this to other people and they look at me like I'm completely insane. I personally think it's just a repetitive distraction technique to keep myself anchored and not be sick? But no one I've ever talked to "in real life" has said it sounded familiar except as a symptom of some kind of autism.

If you can have a car journey and not do this then it's probably fine. If it's just a distraction technique, not a compulsion.
