Is it normal that i deleted my facebook profile?

I got rid of my facebook account because I didn't have any really close friends at the end of college. Also, I still don't have a job, and it would make me feel even worse to hear about how much better everyone else has it. Some girls are even married or engaged *and* have a job, and I have nothing in comparison. I feel like a total loser, and Facebook makes me feel like a mega loser. Is this normal or cowardly of me?

I deleted mine just because it's the stupidest thing ever. It's a lame popularity contest. I have a fake one just for my bejeweled blitz habit, though. =)

  • It's not permanently deleted, my brother in law deleted his 2 years ago and can still look at his profile he had along with comments on his page. Gotta love selling your soul to facebook.

It's normal you deleted it for that reason but you shouldn't be brought down. People only show what they want people to see on facebook, they don't show the rest. You're not a loser.

    • One of the prime reasons why I hate facebook.. Because even if I delete it, my personal info is still on their servers. Its as if I've never left.

Lately I've begun to systematically add joke/fake information (under activities: your mom) so that when I eventually delete my account it wont matter.

        • When you ''close'' your account its not as if it goes away dude... Everything still stays there because have the option to re-open your account.

I closed my account a while ago but re-opened it last month. When you re-open it, its just the same as logging in as normal... And all your info just comes back. They keep everthing dude, private messages, wall posts, photos and likes. Everything..

You guys probably don't know that, but you know when you get a Facebook account, you agree that the things you post on Facebook are then owned by Facebook right?

When you post a picture, Facebook has a right to the picture now, because who had agreed to that.

            • Which is why I said, it's as if you sell your soul to facebook.

Good idea. I plan on deleting mine someday. I have a friend who seriously adds people who he's only said hi to or heard of and he considers himself a known person because he has so many facebook friends. Don't try to be one of them. He will always be a loser in my mind until he can reconcile with himself and accept who he really is - facebook is a cover up for too many people out there

I failed in some test while my friends passed that test and they posted so many comments about how they 'rocked' the exams, 'made the test their bitch' and such juvenile things and that was one of the worst day of my life. I hate facebook since..

Normal to delete it but remember, if people piss u off on there delete them, and people will put stuff in about their lives being amazing but hardly anyone has that! No ones gonna put how crap lifes going unless they're total attention whores. And Facebook or similar isn't a comparison from person to person as you never get the whole picture

You are totally normal. People use Facebook to paint an image of the lives they want people to think they have. If getting rid of Facebook helps put your mind at ease, then you should do just that!

I got rid of my Facebook. It really feels really good to be off it!

I hated those sisters who always wrote how much they loved each other on each other's walls... REAL ANNOYING It's like "WE ALL LOVE OUR FAMILIES! WE DONT HAVE TO MAKE AN ADVERTISEMENT TO LET THE WORLD KNOW I LOVE MY BROTHER AND SISTER."

    Naaaaaw mean?

If people on there annoy you, just hide them from your newsfeed, or delete/block them. Also who cares what other people are doing? They're getting married, big woop. Get over it.

I've done the same thing before. However, eventually I just went back. I've been getting an urge to do it again recently though... the guy I wanted to marry and have kids with broke my heart, so I kind of want to flee the planet again, ya know?

    • Yes, Facebook can become addicting. It's easier to stay away when you have sites like this though.

Just makes me wonder what people did back when computers didn't exist. It must have just been natural to lose touch with people you'll never again see in person.
